General View :

1. In May 2001 the National Project for training nurses, with the coordination of The Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon and the Italian Government, succeeded in opening about 20 centers for the continuous training and education for nurses in the top 20 hospitals in Lebanon.
2. The Rayak Hospital administration opened the Continuous Education Center and assigned the registered nurse Miss Rola Mazbouh a full time responsible for this center to keep in touch with every new in the field of Nursing care and to inform her fellow nurses through conducting and organizing lectures and after that tests to measure their competences.
3. The Continuous Education and Training Committee is constituted of 7 members among them  is the nursing director , the infection control officer , and the sections heads . This committee meets once a month.
4. There is a work Agenda that was put for the year 2005 to cover all subjects, after studying the various Nursing Sections training needs, through methods that were previously agreed upon with the nursing Director.
5.  Calendars were distributed among sections, which contained general nursing topics, and others with specialized topics for specialized nurses.
6. Every month a calendar is distributed with names for obligatory attendance. and these terms are abided by :
7. In order to achieve a Ministry of Public Health Certificate a nurse should attend at least 30 hours / year.
8. A test is conducted after each and every lecture, and an evaluation process takes place for the lecturer, the lecture it self, and the attendance.
9. There is a penalty for unexcused absence, which can be a warning and sometimes salary deduction.
10. Constant Attendance and excellence in grades is rewarded with recognition   and compensation.
11. The Continuous Education and Training hours is registered on a personal document for each nurse and is sent to the Ministry of Public Health at the end of the year.
12. These lectures take place in the hospital Conference room, which can receive up to 80 persons and is equipped with audiovisual equipments, computer, video player – LCD …etc
13. We also care for conferences held out side the hospital and attend them whenever invited. 
14. Many other lectures are organized in the hospital conference room and library by the different medication firms.

The Workflow in the Continuous Education Center :

1. Detecting a problem – analyzing the problem – searching for the causes – searching for solutions – choosing the suitable standards – clarifying the solutions – executing the solutions – measuring and continuously monitoring the results –publishing the solutions and the results.
2. The training operation is presented by the following five fundamental stages which constitute a continuous cycle from:

                   1:analyzing the training needs
                   2: evaluating these needs
                   3: setting the work plan
                   4: executing the raining plan
                   5: evaluating stage
                   

the Section’s Goals :

1. One of the most important goals of this section is the continuous improvement of the quality of the service provided and the creation of new stimulations for the

Nurses and hospital workers to continuously search for every new in the technology of Nursing Care.

Expected  Training  results :

1.  Adds new skills
2.  Develops incorrect performance
3. Teaches the use of new machines
4. Improves the nurses knowledge

-   Changes attitude according to need

3. Develops the means of communication
4. Inform the nursing staff on new policies

New expansion plan

1. To train all nurses how to use computers through intensive courses to enable them to conduct effective individual researches.
2. Establishing new center for scientific and medical researches where members of the nursing staff can

Participate in . and the research results can be published in the hospital magazine .

- To change the training into discussion sessions of   non curable cases and nursing recurring mistakes in order to find solutions for them through:

1. Round table  - journal club
2. To conduct Orientation campaigns on the local level and in all Humanitarian institutions, Schools, out patient departments, by dedicating certain no of nurses with suitable equipments.
3. To establish the amphitheatre which is equipped with the most modern techniques, and audiovisual equipments.
